Adoption

All our dogs have been fully vetted before being placed available for adoption, which includes initial exam that includes rabies vaccination, DA2PP vaccination, fecal and HW test, and any medications to treat anything found amiss in the initial exam. We then schedule a spay/neuter and dental if those are also needed, along with a microchip if not already having one. Dogs 5 years and up are considered seniors, and we do a blood panel to have as a reference as they age for other health issues. All our fosters come with collar, harness, leash, microchip, rescue ID tag, blanket, copy of their vetting paperwork, and a week's worth of food they are used to eating in their foster home. They have had a mandatory worming upon entering our care and are on monthly heartworm prevention.

Transportation is up to the adopter - we do not ship/fly dogs, the new owner must come to pick up the dog.

Adoption donations vary. We will discuss that with you once we have approved your application. Donations in the past have varied from $100 to $500, depending on factors like age, breed, health issues, etc. We gladly accept more than we are asking - costs of vetting have increased dramatically in the last couple of years.

ONLINE APPLICATION

Please note - we do not place our dogs in homes that use e-fencing as that type of fencing does not stop a predator from coming into your yard and harming your dog. If the dog were to get out of the yard, it cannot come home again because of the e-fencing. We also do not adopt to families with children under the age of 10 years old. Many of our dogs come from rough backgrounds and carry some baggage. Some have had little adult contact, so small children making quick moves and strange noises can upset these dogs.

Please complete the Adoption Application. Be sure to contact your two personal references and your veterinarian, giving them permission for us to speak with them about your pet being current on vaccinations and Heartworm preventatives and general care. Once your application has been approved, you will be contacted to set up a convenient time for a home visit with all the members of your household. At this visit, we want to make sure your family is the right fit for the dog your are interested in adopting and that your home is a safe and secure environment for a rescue dog. The foster home will make contact with you to set up a phone conversation so that you can get the most accurate information on the dog's personality, housetraining skills, and answer any questions about the dog. Upon approval for adoption, a contract with the terms of adoption will be signed and the adoption donation will be paid. These dogs may have had a rough life in the past, and we want to make certain they are going into homes that understand their needs and that this adoption will be FOREVER.

ADOPTION DONATION

The Adoption Donation is based on the dog's age and veterinary costs so may vary. Fees are normally higher for younger dogs, helping us defray the costs of extra vetting on older dogs or dogs with health issues.

TRANSPORTATION

You will need to make plans to pick up the dog. We do not use ground transport companies nor fly dogs cargo by commercial plane. We are located in Missouri.
